The Mammoth Ski Museum announced today that they will be hosting a major exhibition of The Mammoth Suite by artist Matt Elson throughout the 2006/7 ski season. The Mammoth Suite is a collection of multi-media works that are themed on the Eastern Sierra Nevada with Mammoth as its hub.

The exhibition will begin in late November 2006 and continue through Memorial Day weekend 2007. An artist reception will be on Thursday evening December 21 at the Mammoth Ski Museum.

Described as ethereal and compelling, The Mammoth Suite showcases Matt Elson’s talents as an artist with a strong background in media graphics. The results are technologically sophisticated works of art that seduce the viewer with images and an installation that defies easy categorization.

Throughout the record breaking “Mammoth” winter of 2006, Matt Elson explored the Eastern Sierra seeking subject matter worthy of the canvas. Working closely with TJ Chase, Mammoth Ski Museum director and with Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra (DSES), he had the opportunity to spend many hours on the mountain witnessing the many different moods of a truly amazing winter season. As a result, close to twenty-five original works of art were born.

“Matt Elson's work embodies the true nature and essence of Mammoth. His work is pioneering and creative as well as stunningly unique and beautiful”, stated TJ Chase, Director of the Mammoth Ski Museum.

The Mammoth Suite will be evolving over the next couple of months in preparation for it’s unveiling at the Mammoth Ski Museum in November. Check back for updates on its progress and for additional information related to The Mammoth Suite or Matt Elson.
